ABOUT ME
Anthony Arpino (He/Him)

Hi, I’m Anthony.
I am a qualified, registered and trauma-trained therapist with a Master of Counselling. I identify as gay/cisgender and am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I see therapy as a collaborative partnership between myself and my clients, where we work together in a way that promotes healing and growth. Through empathy, understanding, and a shared commitment to change, we will explore and develop tools, strategies and skills to help you through the difficulties you are experiencing and embrace a more empowered and fulfilling life.

I have experience working with adolescents and adults experiencing a diverse range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, identity issues (incl. coming out and sexual/gender identities), low self-confidence and self-esteem, stress management, anger management, communication and relationship issues, substance misuse

Additionally, I am also a member of a broader therapeutic team working together to provide recovery-oriented care and support to young people in crisis, helping them to achieve their individual personal, living and social skills/goals.
Prior to training as a therapeutic counsellor I spent many years working in the corporate sector, mentoring and coaching individuals to overcome personal and professional obstacles, make positive change in their lives and achieve their goals. Therefore, I am well-acquainted with the multitude of life and work-related stressors and problems that commonly arise in our lives, and I also understand the importance of seeking support when needed.

If you’re unsure if therapy is for you or you're curious about whether I'd be a good fit for you as a counsellor, I offer a FREE 15 minute phone consultation to see if we’re the right match.

The Proud Place Approach to Therapy
Therapy, much like life, is a journey. At Proud Place Therapy, my approach to supporting clients is rooted in the belief that each individual possesses the strength and resilience to overcome life's challenges and build a fulfilling and authentic life. I strive to create a safe and inclusive space where individuals can explore their unique identities and experiences, offering a sense of pride and empowerment.
I am committed to providing therapeutic support that is non-judgmental, trauma-informed and recovery-focused. My goal is to create a collaborative, supportive and relaxed therapeutic environment that I believe is essential in helping individuals develop self-awareness, self-acceptance, resilience, and positive mental well-being.
I also understand that the therapeutic journey is not always straightforward. It can be filled with ups and downs, moments of progress and moments of challenges. It is a dynamic process, and I am committed to making adjustments to therapy goals and plans as needed.
I encourage open and honest communication with my clients, valuing their input and feedback, so that I can tailor my approach to meet their evolving needs. I am devoted to working collaboratively with individuals, empowering them to navigate the ups and downs of their unique journey, embrace their true selves and find their own proud place in the world.
